If you love curves, views, and roads where the journey is the joy—northern Sardinia is a dream come true. Here are our personal tips around Valledoria.
⭐ Length: 355 km
Legendary Route SS125 (Orientale Sarda)
The iconic route from Olbia to Cagliari. An absolute paradise for every motorcyclist. This road regularly ranks among the best motorcycle routes in the world. You’ll experience hundreds of kilometers of perfect asphalt, endless series of curves, and views of the mountains and sea that will take your breath away inside your helmet.

The local asphalt has a rough granite texture with grip like a racetrack—the bike sticks to the lean like glue (though tires wear out faster). The most technical section, Dorgali–Baunei (49 km), is historically the oldest and most scenic, carved into the rocks with views of Gola di Gorropu.

💡 Start: 70 minutes (Alghero)
Bosa (coastal road SP105)
The road connecting Alghero and Bosa is often called the most beautiful coastal route in the Mediterranean. You’re in for 45 kilometers of pure riding adrenaline on cliffs above the sea, with almost no intersections or villages. It’s a technical ride with views that will make you stop and take photos.

The best experience is to head out late in the afternoon from Bosa toward Alghero—then you have the sun at your back, and the red cliffs literally glow. The asphalt is high-quality, but watch out for gusty winds from the sea in open sections and the occasional goats on the road.

⭐ 50 minutes (Eastbound)
Santa Teresa Gallura
Riding to the northernmost tip of Sardinia is a visual feast. The SP90 road follows the coastline, offering a brisker pace with long, smooth turns. The destination is the Capo Testa peninsula—a lunar landscape of wind-sculpted granite with an iconic lighthouse, where you can see all the way to the white cliffs of neighboring Corsica.

The road here is wider and clearer, tempting you to go faster, but watch out for strong crosswinds in the Bonifacio Strait area. At the Capo Testa lighthouse, take advantage of your two wheels—you can park your motorcycle at the very end of the road, where cars can’t reach during the season.

Ride to the northernmost point of the island.
💡 60 minutes (toward Costa Smeralda)
Arzachena
Riding into the interior of Gallura offers a different kind of experience—you pass through a landscape of bizarre granite rocks and cork oaks. The roads here are smooth, with high-quality surfaces, winding through valleys dotted with mysterious prehistoric landmarks. It’s the perfect route if you want to combine dynamic riding with short but fascinating stops.
Moto tip:
Near Arzachena, you’ll find the best-preserved 'Giants’ Tombs' (Tombe dei Giganti). The ride to the tombs is perfect for motorcyclists since parking areas (e.g., near Coddu Vecchiu) are right by the main road—no long hikes in gear, just dismount, explore 4,000 years of history, and you swing further.

⭐ 60 minutes (Eastbound)
Palau (Archipelago Panorama)
The road to Palau is visual therapy. The asphalt winds along the coast, offering breathtaking views of the turquoise sea and the islands of La Maddalena National Park. It’s a dynamic ride that ends in a lively port town, where you can feel the atmosphere of luxury yachts and holiday buzz.
Trip suggestion:
Be sure to take a short detour to ‚Capo d’Orso‘ (Bear Cape) above the city. A fun winding road leads up to it. From the parking lot at the top, you’ll have your motorcycle in sight and enjoy what is probably the best panoramic view of the entire archipelago without needing to take a ferry.

Porto Cervo
The road to the heart of the Emerald Coast is a ticket to another world. The nearly 'circular' asphalt winds between smooth granite rocks and the most expensive villas in the Mediterranean. It’s a technically easy but visually captivating ride, where Sardinia’s rugged nature meets sheer luxury.

The biggest advantage of a motorcycle in Porto Cervo is parking. While cars struggle in the season for expensive parking spots far from the center, with a motorcycle, you can park almost directly at the famous ‚Piazzette‘ and the harbor. The coastal road SP94 offers great grip, but riding here is more about smooth cruising due to the heavier traffic of super sports cars.

Monte Limbara
If you’re looking for motorcycle challenges, you’ll find them right here. The road from Tempio Pausania to the summit of Limbara is a fascinating series of endless serpentines that lift you from sea level up to the clouds (1,362 m above sea level). The technical "hairpins" and rugged beauty of the granite massifs are more reminiscent of the Dolomites than a Mediterranean island. The reward after the ride is a breathtaking 360-degree view of all of northern Sardinia, even as far as Corsica.

The temperature difference between the coast and the summit can be as much as 10–15 °C. Pack a warmer layer or a waterproof liner for your jacket, even if it’s hot down below. Be careful in the forested sections of Vallicciola—the asphalt there can be damp and covered with pine needles even on sunny days.

Tempio Pausania
Riding to the historic center of the Gallura region is an experience in itself. The road takes you through rolling hills with endless cork oak groves and dramatic granite rock formations. Tempio isn’t just a destination—it’s primarily a strategic crossroads for some of the best motorcycle routes in the north, where wide, sweeping turns with perfect grip alternate with scenic panoramas that make you slow down and admire the view.

A great midday destination—wide roads, mountain air, and a pleasant granite town center for coffee. Ideal when you want to escape the heat by the sea.. The temperature here drops by 5-8 °C, which you’ll appreciate in your riding suit during July heatwaves. The roads in the area have rough granite asphalt with extreme grip that holds even when wet..

Parco Santa Degna Comune di Aggius
The road to the village of Aggius takes you through the famous 'Moon Valley' (Valle della Luna), where the asphalt winds between massive, bizarre granite boulders. Aggius itself, nestled beneath a sharp rocky ridge, is one of the most authentic places on the island. The ride here is technical, full of short turns and smooth climbs that reward you with the raw beauty of Gallura’s interior.

The stretch through Valle della Luna is an acoustic experience—the sound of the engine beautifully echoes off the granite walls in the narrow rocky passages. In the Santa Degna park itself, you’ll find pleasant shade under tall trees, a small lake, and a spring of drinking water, making it a perfect stop for refreshment in your wetsuit before returning to the coast.
